    TO: Principals/Cheerleading Coaches FROM: Amy J. Cassell, Assistant RE: State Cheerleading Championship DATE: September 23, 2013 Congratulations to your cheer squad for advancing to the State Championship! The State Championship competition will be held at Gallagher-Iba Arena on the campus of Oklahoma State University on September 28, 2013. Below, you will find information for the State Cheerleading Competition. Please review this material carefully. Fans and squads are not allowed to bring spirit posters, banners, noise makers, coolers or any food or drink. Admission prices will be $5.00 for adults and students. The 2013-2014 OSSAA pass will be the only pass accepted, and must be presented with your drivers license. A variety of products will be available, including T-shirts, longsleeve T-shirts, hoodies, caps, sweatpants, and shorts. Kukulski Brothers will also be offering on-site customizing with school names. Team discounts are available and you can place your order in advance by calling Dan Kukulski at 602-769-0180 or Kukulski Brothers at 888-921-1975. Please bring a roster sheet for your squad to the state competition. Include the squad members names and coaches names as well as school administrators names. The form is located in this information. If you have not sent your picture and roster to VYPE for inclusion in the State Championship program, you can email a 300 dpi picture, and a roster to Rod Coulter at programs@vype.com. There is no charge to be included in the program. Please take care of this ASAP. The following tournament guidelines and time schedule should be followed:

    1. The State Championship Competition time schedule is on the order of performance sheet.

    2. Each squad should arrive at the ASSIGNED CHECK IN TIME. Check in is located at the SE PASS GATE OF THE STADIUM. All squad members and coaches for the respective school should check in together. Trainers, etc. do not check in with the squad.

    If you wish to bring your squad early, you may check in at the NE ARENA DOOR. You will be sent to the end section of the arena to be seated. Early arrivals will not have access to locker rooms, etc. until their assigned check in time. If you arrive early, you ARE STILL REQUIRED TO ARRIVE AT THE APPROPRIATE CHECK IN TIME (SE CORNER OF THE STADUIM) AT YOUR ASSIGNED TIME.

    3. The performance order for the squads competing at the State Competition has been set by the OSSAA staff. (NOTE: The order was randomly selected by the OSSAA staff.) The schools are listed on the accompanying sheets in the order in which they will compete. A check-in schedule can be found below.

    4. Floor Passes: Floor passes will be issued at the site at the check-in table. These are the only passes you will receive. No additional passes will be issued.

  • 5. Please note that only 2 Coaches will be allowed on the floor. No additional squad members will be allowed on the floor, but may stand in the area where the squads enter while their school is competing.

    6. All National Federation Spirit Rules apply. Any squad violating those rules will be disqualified.

    7. Take II Video will be in attendance and will have team photos and videos of the competition for sale.

    8. An emergency will be the only exception for being late. If an emergency occurs, contact the site manager, Amy Cassell, 405-990-7752.

    9. We will run two classes simultaneously. Be sure to check the schedules carefully for your designated warm-up and performance times.

    10. If a class runs over the scheduled time, 15 minutes will be allowed before beginning the next classification. No classification will begin before the scheduled time.

    11. Trophies will be awarded after every classification. 11. Upon completion of each session the Academic Trophy will be awarded. After the

    presentation, squads will be called to the floor by classification. A formal awards presentation will be conducted. Please inform your athletes they are to remain in their school uniform during the awards presentation, and in the competition area until all the trophies and medals have been awarded. Remind your athletes of the high level of respect and good sportsmanship that your school is responsible to display at any competitive event.

    Please be sure your squad dismounts all stunts prior to exiting the matted surface. No pyramids should be walking off the competition area.

    With regard to the use of signs in your routine, please note the following:

    Sign Tips 1. If using signs in your routine participants will carry them out with them as the squad enters the floor to set up and begin their routine. At the end of the routine, all participants need to clear the mat to ensure your time has stopped. After you have completed your routine and the clock has stopped have designated team members go back out onto the floor and pick up any remaining signs so the floor is clear for the next squad to perform. 2. Please note the following NFHS rules concerning signs

    For all cradle dismounts.....The flyer must not hold props (signs, etc.) that are made of solid material, corners or sharp edges.

    Tumbling over or under a stunt, person or prop is illegal.
