    Recommended Tolerances of Shaft and Hub

    Finish surface roughness at or below 1.6a in shaft and 3.2a in hub.

    How to Determine Hub Outer DiameterAfter selecting mecha-lock size as well as hub size and material, confirm that the selected values meet the conditions Hhub minimum outer diameter in the right table.

    Features of Mecha LocksTheMechaLockisafasteningtooltotightlyfastenahubtoashaftbyusingfriction.Thisisaccomplishedbyconvertingbolttighteningpowerintopressureonthetapered

    innerdiametersurfaceofthehub,andthetaperedouterdiameteroftheshaft.Ahub(suchaspulleys,gearsandsprockets)canbeeasilyconnectedwithashaftbybolting.

    Itiswellsuitedtoapplicationswithrepeatedforward/backwardrotationasitvirtuallyeliminatesbacklash.

    It can also handle some thrust.

    Designallowsforinfinitephaseadjustmentafterinstallation.

    Itsavescomplexkeymachiningonshaftsandhubsaswellaspolishinginassembling,whichleadstototalcostreduction.

    Structure of Mecha Lock

    Installation(1)Wipeofftheshaftsurfaceandapplyoilorgrease. (Donotuseanyoilorgreasecontainingmolybdenumtypeeliminationagent.) (2)WipeoffandapplyoilandgreaseoncontactsurfacesofMechaLocksandHubs. Applyoilorgreasetothethreadandseatoflockbolt.(3)PleaseinserttheshaftafterassemblingtheMechaLocksandHubstemporarily. (Please do not tighten the bolt before inserting the shaft) (4) After locating, tighten the lock bolts using a torque wrench in the diagonal line order,beginninglightly(approx.1/4ofthepredeterminedtighteningtorque).

    (5) Tightentheboltsfurthertoanincreasedtorque(approximately1/2specifiedtorque).(6)Tightenwiththepredeterminedtighteningtorque.(7)Finally,tightenthelockboltincircumferentialorder.

    Note on InstallationBolttheMechaLockafterinsertingtheshaft. (MechaLocksmaydeformiftheboltistightenedbeforeinserting

    the shaft.) Use torque wrenches to tighten the bolts. Do not use bolt other than those attached for lock bolt.

    RemovalBesuretoworkafterthesystemiscompletelyshutdown.Loosenthelockboltincircumferentialorder.Insertboltinscrewholeforremovalandtightenevenly.Repeat"Installation"processforre-installation.
