  • 1.LIFE vs. LIFESTYLE What does that mean? What is a life? What is a lifestyle? What is the difference? When meeting someone new what creates a sense of offense or acceptance? If offense what offense? This conversation assumes the other person is or may be gay. Can you let go of your sense of offense to allow yourself to be used by God in this moment? If acceptance what acceptance? You’ve worked out this very important part of meeting someone which really only takes a few moments, maybe 10 seconds at the most and now you’re ready to just talk to them with the assumption that they want to hear what you have to say. You now know they’re gay so you’ve made the assumption that they don’t know the Lord. Now is your opportunity to show them Christ. What is your opening comment or statement? Are you going to talk to them about who they are or what they do in private? Are you going to talk about who Christ is to you? Are you going to tell them about what Christ is and who Christ is to them? What will you tell them about Jesus as it relates to them right now (in your moment)? The above questions lead you to the thought with which we began, “Are you approaching the life (the person) or the lifestyle? The type of lifestyle you are sure they live because of the assumptions you made about acceptance or offense. As a Christian you are called to bring the message of hope and the good news of Christ to the entire world. Mark 16:15 - (The Great Commission) …And he said to them, “go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” ESV. The entire world means everyone that we come in contact with as we go about our day. Here, as well as Matthew 28:19, we do not see any exclusion for people that we don’t like. Nor do we see that were called
  • 2. to tell anyone about their life (or lifestyle) and whether or not you approve. Jesus calls us to proclaim HIM to them…to all! It is for God and Holy Spirit through the Grace of Jesus to draw them unto salvation. Amen! Another key to remember as you are dealing with the questions above is that it’s easy to make the assumption of a person’s sex life and think that it’s okay to make assumptions about offense or acceptance. The reality is we need to stop at their life. They are children of God awaiting the opportunity to become Sons of God. EPH 1:5 He predestined (known before the foundations of the earth and given to all who choose to accept Jesus forgiveness. None are left out as Christ died, “once for all”) us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will. Be mindful of this especially…they may already have a relationship with Christ. It is therefore, a dangerous place to speak from judgment not GRACE!
